René de Yolande Angelinah - Defender of the Chameleons

Herpetologist and Teacher-Researcher

René de Yolande Angelinah began her research on chameleons in 2016, in the Bemanevika protected area, as part of her Master 2 in biology and ecology. Between 2018 and 2021, she continued her studies, focusing on the factors influencing the distribution of chameleons in the Bemanevika and Mahimborondro protected areas.
Since 2019, René de Yolande has been conducting research on Malagasy herpetofauna, exploring several regions of Madagascar. Despite the many negative myths surrounding chameleons, she insists that these animals are gentle and fascinating, with their ability to change color and camouflage themselves.
For René de Yolande, chameleons are among the treasures of Madagascar, just as precious as lemurs. They play a crucial role in the balance of food chains and deserve special attention for their preservation.
