Belalahy Tertius Rodriguez - Defender of the Lemurs

Belalahy Tertius Rodriguez, 33, originally from northern Madagascar, studied at the Faculty of Sciences in Antsiranana. During his university studies, he had the opportunity to work as a research assistant alongside renowned researchers such as Prof. Steven Goodman, Dr. Brent Sewall, Kim Reuter and Prof. John Zaonarivelo. He obtained a Master's degree in Natural and Environmental Sciences, with a thesis on lemurs.
Fascinated by these animals that he considers the true owners of the island, Belalahy emphasizes that in his region, lemurs are respected and some are even considered taboo. As site manager for the Madagasikara Voakajy Association, he helped organize the Regional Lemur Day in northern Madagascar, in collaboration with Rio.
