Why the name "AKIO FOTY" for the first wave of Ocean Defenders?

AKIO FOTY means “Great White Shark”. This powerful name evokes the majesty and strength of this impressive marine predator, this powerful choice embodies their unwavering commitment to safeguarding marine ecosystems. Just as the Great White Shark is essential to the balance of its habitat, the Ocean Defenders, AKIO FOTY are dedicated to preserving the oceans with unwavering determination.
In this first wave, 10 people were carefully selected, representing the North, South, East and West regions of Madagascar. Each of these people, deeply passionate about the ocean, devotes their lives to its preservation and well-being.
Their words resonate with conviction: “The ocean is linked to our lives from the moment we are born until our last breath. It ensures our food security, sustains our livelihoods and enables our success. We must protect it as it has protected us.”
