Elin Dahlio AMBININTSOA - Defender of coral reefs
Master’s student at IH.SM
Elin Dahlio AMBININTSOA is a passionate student at the Institute of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (IH.SM) in Toliara, where he has been pursuing a Master’s degree since 2019. Driven by a deep love for the sea and its biodiversity, he has focused his research on coral reefs, a vital ecosystem now threatened by the effects of climate change and human activities. His research focuses on the monitoring and restoration of coral reefs through coral transplantation in the Mahafaly landscape region of southwestern Madagascar. Aware of the importance of reefs for marine biodiversity and coastal communities, Elin is actively involved in their preservation and restoration. This year, he contributed to a reef restoration project in the Atsimo-Andrefana region, in collaboration with the WWF. He also participated in a training course organised by CORDIO East Africa in May, which enabled him to monitor the state of coral reefs in this region, thus consolidating his expertise in the field of marine conservation.
